Natural Landscapes

La Manche offers exceptional natural sites and a great diversity of panoramas: dunes, marshes, hedgerows, estuaries, bays, and rocky cliffs form a colorful mosaic of landscapes.

La Manche is also rich in exceptional biodiversity. The Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, the estuaries on the West Coast, the Chausey Archipelago, the cliffs and moors of La Hague, the marshes of Cotentin and the Bay of Veys, the salmon rivers of Sée and Airou, the island of Tatihou, and the moors of Lessay and the Barfleur coast are privileged habitats for numerous animal and plant species, some of which are rare.

Islands

La Manche, with its 355 km of coastline, is bordered by numerous islands and islets. Some belong to the department, while others do not.

The Channel Islands are mentioned here due to their geological connection to the department, their history closely linked to Normandy, and their geographical proximity.

The Chausey Island is a paradise for fishermen and visitors who are amazed by the preserved nature of this archipelago.

The island of Tatihou is a privileged domain for seabirds and therefore a magical place for nature and environment enthusiasts.

Regular maritime connections are available from the ports of Granville, Barneville-Carteret, and Diélette in La Manche.
